Stealing is not cool

As a writer, I’ve experienced plagiarism, piracy, and pure badminded badplay. From stories showing up on news sites without attribution never mind payment; to free downloading of entire books; to companies skipping out on payment obligations for services rendered.  As a writer, it’s never cool to be exploited, whatever form it may take; and you do what you can to prevent it happening in the first place and, if it does, seek redress – a long, frustrating, and sometimes fruitless process. As easy as it is to share information in this ICT age, it’s just as easy to steal it and some people have no conscience. Meanwhile, writers and other creative types must remain vigilant, as this tale reminds:

That, and have a memory like an elephant…what goes around, comes around and who don’t pay the just will pay the unjust.
