Just finished the latest two books in Gilly Gobinet’s Cool Caribbean cook book series (the fact that I’m reading rather than experimenting with the recipes says more about me than the recipes, believe me). It also says a lot that my favourite was The Cool Caribbean Book of Hot Spices, Luscious Fruits & Heady Spices co-authored with Dr. Anthony Richards; this book was light on the recipes and heavy on anecdotal tid bits delivered in a casual witty style, making for more interesting reading. But, of course, cook books are for cooking and these mini-books are packed with cocktail and food recipes from various Caribbean chefs.
